Day-to-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Murchison

Start our 12 days best of Uganda Safari with the Murchison falls national park. Pass by the Ziwa Sanctuary en-route and enjoy Rhino trekking. Stop-over masindi town for a local traditional meal for our lunch before continuing to Murchison. We’ll arrive in the evening then check in at the lodge for dinner & overnight stay.

Day 2: Murchison falls National park – Game Safari

Enjoy a wildlife safari in Murchison falls national park today. You’ll get up early, have breakfast then head for the morning game drive to see most of the wildlife like lions, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, kobs and more. Later return back to the lodge for lunch & relax. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat cruise downstream the Nile and marvel at the amazing falls. You will also get to see Hippos & Crocodiles too.

Day 3: Murchison to Kibale forest

Take the journey west to Kibale forest national park – the primate capital of the world. Check in to your lodge located near or within the park. Dinner will be served here & enjoy the night ready for the big day tomorrow.

Day 4: Primate Tracking in Kibale forest national park

Today we will enjoy primate tracking in Uganda’s best primate destination. Accompanied by an experienced UWA guide, you will walk through the Kibale forest where you will see a number of primates like chimpanzees, collobus monkeys, blue monkeys, baboons, red velvet monkeys and many more. The forest is also home a number of bird species.

Day 5: Kibale forest to Queen Elizabeth Park

After the primates, we will get ready to enjoy another day in Queen but before that, we will tour the amazing crater lakes in this region. The crater lakes hike can take about 1 to 2 hours. You will also have a chance to visit the ‘Amabeere ga nyina mwiru’ caves in fort-portal. We later transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park and check into the lodge situated within or outside the park.

Day 6: Queen Elizabeth Park Wildlife Viewing

Another memorable day for your 12 day best of Uganda safari starting with breakfast at 6am. Then set off for an early morning game drive in the park, don’t forget to capture the sunrise. You will come across a number of wildlife including, kobs, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, lions, warthogs, antelopes and many others. Later return back to your lodge/hotel for lunch. In the afternoon, you will get to enjoy a 2 -3 hours boat trip on the famous Kazinga channel. Lots of wildlife seen on this tour including hippos, buffaloes and elephants on the river banks. Amazing bird-life as well, some rare species found at this channel. After the trip, your guide will transfer you back to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Queen to Bwindi Impenetrable forest.

We pass through the Ishasha sector as we head down to Bwindi national park. We will be welcomed with sights of ishasha’s famous residents – the legendary tree climbing lions. This is one of the best highlights of any Uganda Safari. Continue to Bwindi and pass through the terraced hillsides of the kigezi region – also known as the most beautiful part of Uganda. We will reach Bwindi in the evening and check in to our lodge for the night.

Day 8: Bwindi forest – Mountain Gorillas

The most memorable day of your journey to Uganda could be this thrilling experience with the mountain gorillas. Getting so close to these gentle giants is so overwhelming and is a lifetime safari experience. The trekking experience will start early morning at 8:00 am but you will transfer from your lodge to the park office for briefing at around 7:00 am. Make sure you will have the right gear and clothing for this kind of experience. From here you will be required to have your gorilla trekking permit which will allow you to a full day trekking. In groups of 8 people, accompanied by a guide, you will trek through the Jungles of the Impenetrable forest to track one of the habituated Gorilla groups. Bwindi has several places where the trekking is possible and these include Nkuringo, Ruhija, rushaga and Buhoma. Once you are close to the gorillas, take as many pictures to take back home. A few rules like no flash photophraphy or no starring direct in the gorillas eyes. After this experience which normally takes between 2 to 7 hours, you will receive a gorilla tracking certificate from UWA, then later retire back to your lodge.

Day 9: Bwindi to Bunyonyi

Visit the Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale to relax and enjoy. You can either opt to swim in the lake or take a canoe to visit the nearby hills. This is a calm place that will make you enjoy nature.

Day 10: Bunyonyi to Kampala

Transfer from Bunyonyi to Kampala, pass through towns of Mbarara & Masaka. En-route stop-over for lunch in Mbarara town and also the Equator line in Mpigi. In the evening we will reach Kampala and you check into your lodge ready for another big day on your Uganda Safari tomorrow.

Day 11: Kampala to Jinja

Your driver/tour guide will pick you up early morning and set off to Jinja town. You will pass through the Mabira forest before reaching Jinja. Today you will get to enjoy a full day or half day white water rafting experience on the Nile. You will be accompanied by experienced Kayakers but also a pre-safety training is done prior to this activity. This is where the adrenaline gets into play and the experience is unforgettable rafting through grade 3 and grade 5 trips. Lunch will be served after your rafting trip. In the evening, you will check into your lodge in Jinja for overnight stay.

Day 12: Jinja to Kampala

Wake up today ready to transfer back to Kampala, enjoy a city tour around Jinja looking for the best craft shops for souvenir shopping. Reach Kampala early evening and if you have an evening flight, you will be transferred to the airport in Entebbe.
