Itinerary for the Day
We will set off from Kampala or Entebbe town early morning and head to Mabamba swamp. A boat tour across Lake Victoria to the swamp will give us amazing opportunities to see a variety of other birds. On reaching, we take a canoe through the papyrus reeds which open up into a flat grassy wetlands where a number of Shoebill can regularly be seen.
The Shoebill bird is easier seen in the morning hours when they stalk their main prey, the mudfish or frogs, but it’s possible to see them any time of the day. The bird stands still for long periods to easily trap their prey then they strike with a marvelous speed
Later, we’ll journey back by boat or by road to Entebbe town for Lunch. Alternatively you can opt to have packed lunch while on your Mabamba Swamp birding tour.
