Day-to-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Uganda at Entebbe

Your first day in Uganda!! Your tour guide will be ready & waiting for you at Entebbe international airport to welcome you to the pearl of Africa. You will be transferred to your accommodation for dinner & overnight stay.

Day 2: Shoebill birding in Mabamba Swamp

The Mabamba swamp is located a few kilometers west of Entebbe town and is one of the best places to spot the famous Shoebill stork. You will take a boat trip across the swamp to catch a glimpse of this bird and also see a variety of other birds. In the evening we transfer to Kampala city where you will spend the night ready for the next journey tomorrow.

Day 3: Kampala to Lake Mburo

Journey to Western Uganda for about 4 hours to Lake Mburo national parl. After 1 hour driving, stop by the Equator line in Mpigi for a few photos and snacks. This is where you will also get to experience a lighter-weight effect. Continue to Mburo national park for the rest of the journey and enjoy beautiful sights of small towns of Lukaya, Masaka, Lyantonde and others. On reaching Lake Mburo national park, we will head for a boat trip and have chances of viewing spectacular wildlife including hippos, crocodiles and more. In the evening check into your lodge where you will spend the night.

Day 4: Lake Mburo – Lake Bunyonyi

Early morning game drive in Lake Mburo national park in search for wildlife. Common animals seen include Zebras, Elands, buffalos, Antelopes, giraffes and many others. We will head for Lunch at one of the restaurants within the park. In the afternoon we transfer to Lake Bunyonyi in south western Uganda for about 3 hours passing through the beautiful towns of Mbarara, Ntungamo & Kabale. The Kigezi hills in Kabale are one of the amazing sights you will see on your birding tour. Reach Bunyonyi in the evening and check into your accommodation for the night.

Day 5: Bunyonyi – Bwindi

Spend the day bird watching at Lake Bunyonyi – commonly known as a place of many little birds. We will have lunch at the restaurants at Bunyonyi before we take a boat tour across the lake to other islands. In the evening, we will transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park, a few kilometers away where we will spend the night at one of the lodges.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking Bwindi forest

Early morning, you will transfer to the park headquarters for briefing from the authorities. After this, in groups of 8 tourists, you will be led by a ranger guide into the forest cutting through thick jungles and hiking steep hills. Ensure to have carried along with a few necessary items like Bottled water, a walking stick, long sleeved shirts and tucked in socks. The gorilla trekking adventure is an amazing experience and each tracking group is assigned a habituated gorilla family. Once you finally get to them, it is so overwhelming and be ready to capture the moments. The trekking normally takes 2 to 7 hours depending on how far the mountain gorillas might have moved. After you will be transferred back to your lodge for dinner and over-night stay.

Day 8: Bwindi to Queen

On this day, we will drive to Queen Elizabeth Park – Uganda’s most popular destination with a variety of birds, wildlife and amazing scenery. You will pass through the Ishasha sector and have a chance to see the legendary tree climbing lions. Other wildlife seen here including buffalos, elephants, baboons and a number of rare bird species. Later check into your lodge for dinner & overnight stay

Day 9: Queen Elizabeth national park tour

Early morning, your guide will take you for a game drive in the park to catch a glimpse of the wildlife, birds, insects & reptile in this park. You will come across elephants, lions, hippos, buffaloes and so many rare bird species. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a 2 hour boat cruise on the Kazinga channel – one of the best ways to spot the rare birdlife in Queen. You will also see Hippos and the crocodiles in the channel.

Day 10: Queen – Kibale forest national park

Drive to Kibale national park, pass through the beautiful town of Fort-Portal for lunch. We will also visit the Toro King’s palace and later visit the crater lakes in Kibale with stunning views. In the evening check into your accommodation for the night for overnight stay.

Day 11: Chimp Tracking & Birding in Kibale

Track the chimpanzees in Kibale and 12 other primate species found in this forest. We will also have a chance to see 372 species of birds with 60% being the forest birds. You will be led by a guide into the forest to look for the chimps and this will take about 2 – 3 hours. In the afternoon, we will visit the nearby Bigodi swamp famous for the great blue Turaco.

Day 12: Kibale to Kampala

Today marks the end of our trip and we will drive back to Kampala via fort-portal, passing through traditional homesteads and green country-sides. You will be transferred to Kampala or to Entebbe for your flight back home.
